COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Capital City Activity Center at Meals on Wheels hosts a week of events starting tomorrow. Monday has billiards, exercise with Karen at 10:30 a.m., and bingo at 1 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday offer ring toss, sign language, chair yoga, and a Free Food Friday drive-through providing food from partners (donations).  The State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rev. Ron Moore Jr. of First Corinthian Baptist Church in Frankfort spoke on exponential growth and God's guidance — urging local community members to meet challenges with renewed faith this new year.  The State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • During National Radon Action Month, the American Lung Association urges Frankfort residents to test homes for radon (the second leading cause of lung cancer) as 37% of Kentucky homes show levels at or above EPA standards (4 pCi/L), so locals can protect their health.  Kentucky Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • Western Hills’ girls basketball team extended its win streak to four games with a 61-52 victory against Mercer County on Wednesday. The team holds a 10-3 record as it prepares for Tuesday’s home game against Madison Central.  The State Journal
  • Kentucky lost 89-74 to No. 14 Alabama on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, dropping to 9-5 overall after struggling against ranked opponents. The Wildcats will face Missouri at Rupp Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.  WTVQ
