- ➤ Classic rock fans in Frankfort have a new radio option as G.O.A.T. launches Friday on 93.5 (replacing Pop Radio) and is owned by Seven Mountains Media. The station broadcasts the Free Beer and Wings Show in the mornings to deliver fresh classic rock to the local dial. The State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twenty-two Frankfort students earned a spot on the Dean’s List at Midway University for the Fall Semester after meeting full-time enrollment and 3.60 GPA criteria, as announced on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The State Journal
- ➤ Jared Borck from Frankfort was named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Fall 2025 Dean’s List for earning a GPA between 3.500 and 3.699 while taking at least 12 credits from September to December & his achievement was announced on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The State Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ UKDRS (University of Kentucky Regulatory Services) launched its Forage Testing Program in September 2025 to help local livestock and hay producers improve feed quality and reduce costs; test results will be submitted for USDA grading as the Department of Agriculture retires its program. - ➤ Woodford County Judge Executive James Kay urged residents to plant 30,000 trees by 2030 to help offset tree loss from ongoing development + the planting effort is set to begin this spring. WKYT

- ➤ Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts Allison Ball’s Office is accepting internship applications for its summer program to give college students real-world government accounting experience + applications must be submitted by Feb. 28. Kentucky Today
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Franklin County senior Grayson Scott celebrated his 100th win when he went 4-1 at a weekend wrestling invitational and was named Traditional Bank Athlete of the Week. The 157 lb wrestler now has 102 wins and is ranked 17th in the state as he prepares for regionals. The State Journal
