EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin County High School girls now have a safe space to share their stories and build leadership skills in Girls Group (led by teacher Madison Moore and student president Jessiah Suazo). The group fosters community volunteer work and discussions on women’s health to empower students.  The State Journal
  • Grace Hutcherson of Frankfort earned a spot on Cedarville University’s Dean’s Honor List for Fall 2025 by maintaining a 3.75 GPA while carrying at least 12 credit hours (Cedarville is located in Ohio).  The State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kentucky beat Oklahoma 63-57 at Memorial Coliseum in a hard-fought contest, with Tonie Morgan scoring 22 points and Clara Strack recording a double-double. The team will host Florida on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network Plus.  WKYT
  • Franklin County's girls basketball team beat Western Hills 56-52 in the Friday home game, giving them a 2-0 district record despite battling injuries and illness. Coach Sandford said the young team focused on defense + made key adjustments during the game.  The State Journal
  • Franklin County’s boys basketball team ended its eight-game losing streak with a 72-52 win Friday at FCHS; coach Mac McIntosh said the team, which recently added a football player, will build on this win as they prepare for the district tournament in February.  The State Journal
