- ➤ Rabbi Shlomo Litvin of the Kentucky Jewish Council presented nearly 50 acts of anti-Semitism reported across Kentucky in 2025 to state representatives Tuesday in Frankfort (Jan. 13), stressing that unchecked hate threatens American values and urging education and media outlets to curb rising hate. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Free summer meals for kids were served statewide in summer 2025 by No Kid Hungry KY, the Kentucky Dept. of Education and Feeding KY. Nearly 11 million meals reached students through school districts, libraries and grab-and-go sites — closing gaps and keeping kids healthy during the break. The State Journal

- ➤ Applications for waste cleanup grants are now open from the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection to local governments, schools, and solid waste districts, supporting recycling + composting improvements and hazardous waste events; applicants must submit materials by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 1 at the Division office in Frankfort. - ➤ Kentucky women’s basketball beat Oklahoma 63-57 at Memorial Coliseum Sunday night, lifting the Wildcats to a 16-2 record. Tonie Morgan scored 22 points — reaching 1,500 career points — while Clara Strack pulled a double-double as the team played without injured Teonni Key. WTVQ
- ➤ Franklin County’s wrestling team won back-to-back sectional dual titles on Saturday, qualifying them for the State Duals tournament at the Corbin Arena on Jan. 31 — the team recorded wins over Anderson County, Spencer County, Taylor County, and Western Hills. The State Journal
