- ➤ Two cats Moose and Hazel from L.I.F.E. House started working at Capital City Museum in December to control pests in the 8,000 sqft building. The adoptable cats are kept upstairs during business hours, and staff plan weekday meet-and-greet events (with caution for allergies). The State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Franklin County Schools approved its 2026-2027 calendar at its Monday night meeting. The school year starts Aug. 12 + fall break is Oct. 5-9 + Thanksgiving break is the week of Nov. 23-27 + winter break is Dec. 21-Jan.5 and spring break is April 5-9, with classes ending May 26. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ In Kentucky, 37 tetanus cases were reported nationwide in 2025 (the highest in a decade), but local officials say the risk remains low; experts advise Frankfort residents to get their booster shots and clean even small cuts promptly. The State Journal
