EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Caroline Miklavcic of Frankfort was named to Saint Mary's College Dean's List for the Fall 2025 semester after achieving a 3.6 GPA and completing at least 12 graded credit hours with no grade lower than a C—she met all academic requirements. The State Journal
- ➤ Walter Campbell of Frankfort was named to Lincoln Memorial University Dean’s List for fall 2025 as he qualifies with a 3.5+ GPA while pursuing a BBA. The announcement was made Feb. 1. The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Boston firm, Sasaki, was chosen on Jan. 26 to create a Frankfort Riverfront Visioning and Strategic Plan that focuses on flood resiliency and public spaces from Buffalo Trace Distillery to Capitol View Park. They will finish the plan by July 31 — engaging residents to shape funding. The State Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky public health officials said on Sunday that chickenpox remains a contagious illness that is preventable with the two-dose vaccine for children and unvaccinated adults. They advised anyone diagnosed to stay home until all blisters scab over. The State Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Franklin County’s boys basketball team won 83-79 against Western Hills on Friday, holding a steady lead despite a late rally by the opponent. They now hold a 3-1 district record and will host Sayre on Wednesday as district play continues. The State Journal
