- ➤ Gov. Beshear + Kentucky State Police invite teens aged 16 and 17 to join the free Trooper Island Youth Academy camp scheduled for June 28 through July 2 at Trooper Island Camp on Dale Hollow Lake. Applications close on May 14. WTVQ
- ➤ Frankfort Christian Academy sophomore Ella Hanson was named WesBanco Student of the Week for her essay that earned a top-two finish at both chapter and state contests last Friday (Feb. 20), and she received monetary awards for her work on American Revolution contributions. The State Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ County officials and local groups discussed a strategic plan to fight drug abuse during Wednesday’s fiscal court meeting. The report emphasized a continuum of care (prevention, risk reduction, treatment, and recovery) funded by the opioid recovery fund. The State Journal
- ➤ Officials with the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security said cychlorphine, a synthetic drug ten times stronger than fentanyl, was detected in the state on Friday and may spread further. Healthcare workers and first responders are urged to use protective equipment + treat exposures as emergencies. LEX 18
