COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Capital City Activity Center and Meals on Wheels Greater Frankfort planned a series of daily activities for Monday-Friday, including billiards, bingo, exercise classes and tai-chi sessions. The schedule also features chair volleyball, knitting, corn hole and a drive-through food giveaway Friday.  The State Journal
  • Local community leaders honored the founder of Locks For Addiction at a ceremony in Frankfort, recognizing his work in supporting addiction recovery, and the event showcased the community's appreciation for his impactful efforts.  WKYT

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Paul Sawyier Public Library is hosting a week of events from today’s 2 p.m. poetry reading featuring local poets to Saturday’s Women’s History celebration at 1 p.m. The schedule also offers kids’ crafts, career help, board games, and yoga with registration required at the library.  The State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Outdoor enthusiasts can purchase fishing, hunting and boating licenses today at online portals and local agent locations. Fees remain unchanged from last year, and first-time buyers can choose a special sportsman’s license for $37 — additional guides and details are available on the department’s website.  92.7 The Wave
  • The House passed HB 497 that requires seniors (65+) to file the FAFSA to maintain their college tuition waiver, a change some lawmakers say creates barriers amid a 56-36 vote. Lawmakers now hope the Senate will drop the requirement to preserve the waiver that has supported seniors for 50 years.  LINK nky
  • Kentucky drivers can now order the Friends of Agriculture plate following HB 157 which expanded eligibility for agricultural plates. The plate features designs by FFA and 4-H students and supports local Ag Tag funds while being available at County Clerk offices and online.  92.7 The Wave
