CRIME NEWS

  • A Franklin County judge permanently shut down Your Hometown Heroes, Inc. after it failed to comply with the Attorney General’s subpoena — the ruling includes a $421,000 contempt judgment and bans the group from fundraising until it meets investigation requirements.  WTVQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Acton Children’s Business Fair returns on April 18 and will let kids launch and manage their own businesses — designing products, planning marketing, and making sales at the Kentucky State University Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm in Frankfort.  The State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill to add an extra safety check to the organ donation process passed unanimously in the House last week in Frankfort, and it now moves to the Senate. The measure lets clinical staff and a patient’s family pause the procedure if there are concerns about the patient’s neurological status.  Kentucky Today
  • Outdoor enthusiasts can purchase 2026-2027 fishing, hunting, and boating licenses online or at agent locations (the license year began on Sunday) and fees remain unchanged while a reduced-cost sportsman’s license is available for resident first-time buyers since 1996.  Kentucky Today
  • Governor Beshear noted he has seen 15 federally declared weather disasters during his term and urged residents to review emergency plans as Severe Weather Week continues. State officials advise keeping weather alerts active (and having emergency kits ready) to lower risks when spring storms hit.  WTVQ

  • The Kentucky men's basketball team beat No. 25 Vanderbilt 91-77 Saturday at Rupp Arena (with Collin Chandler hitting a career-high 23 points) and will travel to College Station to play Texas A&M today at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.  WKYT
