- ➤ At Memorial Baptist Church, Cinderella’s Closet of Central Kentucky is helping over 230 senior prom participants from 18 counties pick free dresses, shoes, accessories and more + the event, which began Tuesday, will continue until Saturday. The State Journal
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Insurance premiums are rising as 15-year-olds now get learner permits in Kentucky, and many parents face increased costs. The change follows new rules that allow younger teens to begin driving. WKYT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 50 fourth graders from Frankfort Independent School District will participate in water safety lessons today at North Lexington Family YMCA, hosted by Swim With Purpose and YMCA of Central Kentucky to learn lifesaving swim skills (supporting facility restoration). The State Journal
- ➤ Sen. Danny Carroll’s SB 191 moves forward with a pilot program that gives child care centers and eligible parents a $2,000 bonus for meeting kindergarten readiness standards. Researchers at the University of Kentucky will start setting up the program this August — a measure aimed at easing long wait lists for child care. Louisville Public Media
- ➤ The Frankfort Independent Schools board approved June 5 as Frankfort High’s graduation day, and the ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at F.D. Wilkinson Gymnasium. The State Journal
- ➤ Franklin County Schools approved an amended calendar and set May 22 as the last day of school after scheduling makeup days for weather delays (with one on Feb. 17 and another on March 23). The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky senators introduced a bill to expand access to prosthetics and orthotics, designed to help residents get essential devices. Lawmakers plan to review the proposal during upcoming sessions—more details will be shared later. WKYT
- ➤ Governor Beshear hosted the 58th annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast at the William Exum Center (Kentucky State University) on Thursday morning in Frankfort. The event featured keynote speaker Stephen Boyken and gave the Hope Initiative the William Cooper Faith and Community in Action Award. WTVQ
