- ➤ Kentucky Newsmakers will air tomorrow featuring Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education President Dr. Aaron Thompson discussing college matters as lawmakers consider the budget & Foundation47 President and CEO Dale Morgan offering guidance on spending, saving and investing. WKYT
- ➤ Officials from the YMCA and Swim with a Purpose hosted a swim safety lesson for 60 Franklin County fourth graders on Friday morning at North Lexington Family YMCA, teaching children how to signal for help rather than risk their own safety in the water. LEX 18
- ➤ Kindergartener Le’vonte Fair of the Early Learning Village was named WesBanco Student of the Week and Franklin County Schools Student Champion of the Month, showing focus and kindness in class. He was celebrated at a board meeting on Friday, Mar. 13. The State Journal

- ➤ Motorists are advised that the intersection of U.S. 127 North (Owenton Road) and KY 1900 (Peaks Mill Road) will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday until 6 a.m. March 23 for roadway improvements; drivers should follow the detour via U.S. 421 (Thornhill Bypass) and KY 2822. The State Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Local cheerleaders from five schools — Frankfort, Frankfort Christian Academy, Franklin County, Western Hills, and Great Crossing — were named to the all-district squad after the 41st District basketball tournament ended on March 13. Each school provided two representatives for the honor. The State Journal
- ➤ Four local players were named to the 11th Region all-tournament teams Friday, March 13 — Franklin County’s La’Kyiah Taylor, Makiyia Wheeler, FCHS’ Aaron Jones, and Western Hills’ Sakota Wilder — while Tya Hogan earned a spot on the regional all-academic team. The State Journal
- ➤ Western Hills boys volleyball team defeated Franklin County 3-0 at WHHS on Thursday (25-13, 25-17, 25-14) as the experienced team led with strong serves and defense and now prepares for next week’s matches. The State Journal
