- ➤ The Simon House of Kentucky is hosting its second annual Spring Tea Party in partnership with The Evergreen: Southern Kitchen & Gathering Place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, offering a three-course spread, raffles, and faux flower arranging (guests may bring their own blooms) to benefit its nonprofit shelter. - ➤ The Capital City Activity Center and Meals on Wheels host a week of events starting Monday, with themed wear days and activities like billiards, tai-chi, bingo and exercise classes. Friday features a drive-through free food service and Wednesday offers a limited-size Baking Bread class—call ahead to register. The State Journal
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt (34) from Bardstown was one of six U.S. soldiers in a KC-135 refueling plane that crashed in western Iraq at 2 p.m. ET Thursday while supporting Operation Epic Fury, making her the second Kentucky soldier to die during the mission. Kentucky Today

- ➤ Josephine Sculpture Park will host Barn Raisin’ 2026, a fundraiser presented by Expree Credit Union from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, in its 40-acre park (it will honor Milly Ann Stewart and support free access plus educational programs). The State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Western Hills High School drama club will perform Disney’s Frozen from March 19 to March 22 at the school (showtimes are 7 p.m. on March 19, 20 and 21 and 2:30 p.m. on March 22) as the cast plans a meet-and-greet with children after the performance. The State Journal
- ➤ Paul Sawyier Public Library offers a full week of events for children and adults. Highlights include Monday’s Rainbow Science and race relations discussion, Tuesday’s Leprechaun Traps and Irish Tearoom Mysteries, Wednesday’s PokéClub and yoga, Thursday’s Teen Craft, Friday’s Word workshop, and Saturday’s Button Bouquets on March 21.
