ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Frankfort were $3.37 on Monday, up 81 cents from last month as Middle East tensions raised pump costs nationwide, with Gas Buddy data showing the national average rising 23.2 cents over the past week & diesel nearing $5 per gallon.  Kentucky Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin County Schools set graduation dates for four high schools. The Academy graduates May 20 at 1 p.m. at FCS Board, William Cofield May 22 at 4 p.m. at KSU’s Bradford Hall, and Franklin County and Western Hills May 23 at football fields — FCHS 10 a.m., WHHS 6 p.m.  The State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Beshear said there were no injuries reported after last night’s storm even though some structures sustained damage; emergency crews are assessing repairs while power outages dropped to 30,117 (down from about 38,600). He thanked residents for following safety precautions.  WKYT
  • State lawmakers propose raising the legal sports betting age from 18-21 and removing prop bets on college athletes amid concerns that young bettors are increasingly risking problem gambling during March Madness. The proposal follows strong growth in wagering since sports betting started last September.  WKYT
