- ➤ Downtown Frankfort Inc. announced a Summer Concert Series featuring seven nights of live music on Broadway Street starting May 29, with family activities sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society. An Independence Day festival will take place at River View Park (partly funded by the National Endowment for the Arts). The State Journal

- ➤ Fossil experts say limestone in south central Kentucky shows a warm, shallow sea once nurtured marine life (including brachiopods, trilobites, and sharks). They remind collectors to check local fossil hunting regulations. WKYT

- ➤ The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet warned that sudden spring temperature swings are making roads hazardous as potholes form and debris falls. Crews have closed lanes and treated roads — urging drivers to check local forecasts and proceed with care. LEX 18
