CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Shakespeare will perform free shows of 'The Tempest' at 46 neighborhood parks from April 10 to May 24. The troupe of five actors will begin at Story Avenue park at 6:30 p.m. (the first performance) as they tour central Kentucky and southern Indiana. Louisville Public Media
- ➤ Local artists Marti Booth and Marjorie Willis have their art on display in the Gallery Hall at First United Methodist Church, located at 211 Washington St. The exhibit is open for visitors now. The State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Eighth grader Ayla Tolentino won a KY Department of Agriculture contest to write Millie's Farm Day, which high school student Blakely Callahan illustrated. Ayla toured schools during Ag Education Week to share her book (promoting local agriculture) with young readers. LEX 18
- ➤ A Senate bill to expel students for physically harming teachers cleared the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee on Wednesday in Frankfort. The legislation — crafted over two years by Sen. Matt Nunn after concerns over school safety — now moves to the full House for consideration. Kentucky Today

- ➤ Bluegrass Greensource announced the 13th Annual Main Street Clean Sweep, a regional volunteer cleanup that will take place at Kentucky State University, 101 University Drive, from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear announced funeral plans for Hardin soldier Sgt. Benjamin Pennington (26), who died March 8 after an enemy attack in Saudi Arabia. The service will be Saturday, March 21 at Central Hardin High School in Cecilia, and he will be interred at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff. WKYT
- ➤ Bromazolam, known as designer Xanax, is now banned nationwide after Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman and a 21-state coalition pushed the DEA to act (48 overdose deaths in 2024 were linked to the drug), aiming to protect local communities. LEX 18
