- ➤ The Nourish Food Pantry at the Yung Family Cancer Center received a $50,000 donation from two non-profits — Teal We Find A Cure and Give Where You Live — to help feed patients and other community members facing food insecurity. - ➤ Kentucky’s electric cooperatives are partnering with the Secretary of State to run the nonpartisan Co-ops Vote campaign for the 10th year to boost voter registration in rural areas ahead of the 2026 elections. Secretary Adams said the campaign will remind locals of registration and ballot deadlines even though no statewide primary or general elections are scheduled for 2025 — some special elections may occur. - ➤ Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff today — to honor Department of Corrections Sergeant George Ramirez who died in a vehicle crash on March 10 — and his memorial service will be held today. LEX 18
- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear provided an update on the flood recovery as the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund raised over $880,000 from nearly 4,000 donors and FEMA approved more than $22 million in aid for over 3,800 households — 13 disaster relief centers were opened statewide, 255 residents were housed in state parks, 77 stayed in travel trailers, and disaster unemployment assistance was made available in 16 counties. Andy Beshear vetoed House Bill 216—passed by the legislature to allow department employees to apply for loans or grants, saying it breached ethical rules and would give them an unfair advantage over other farmers.
