- ➤ Staff Sgt. Benjamin Pennington’s body will arrive at 1 p.m. today at the Godman Army Airfield for a dignified transfer — community members are invited to honor him as the procession travels to Trowbridge Funeral Home ahead of his Saturday funeral at Central Hardin High School. WTVQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky State University in Frankfort has launched a new Certificate in Digital Communication that offers a five-course, 15-credit program for working professionals to build digital media skills. Enrollment is open now and courses can be completed in three semesters (they also count toward a bachelor’s degree). Kentucky Today
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources researchers have identified genetic markers for bigger largemouth bass using fins sampled from 300 fish in 30 lakes. The Thoroughbred Bass Program will use the findings to help stock public waters with trophy-size fish in the future (a major advancement in fisheries science). Kentucky Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Kentucky says a new state budget reducing the state match to one-third may force local partners to shut down the program that mails free books to more than 138,000 children each month; lawmakers will return to the House to resolve funding differences. WKYT
- ➤ The Kentucky House Families and Children Committee advanced a resolution to boost enrollment in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by directing agencies to reach children in foster care, low-income households and low-participation areas; now the measure heads to the full House. WTVQ
- ➤ A Lexington-based recovery group said House Bill 470 passed in the Senate with a 35-0 vote will hurt peer support services and the recovery system. The bill now returns to the House for further review. WKYT

- ➤ Burger Madness Week begins today in downtown Frankfort with $8 burger specials at participating restaurants (sponsored by Whitaker Bank and the Kentucky Beef Council). Customers may collect a burger passport (for a chance to win $25 gift cards by visiting multiple locations and dropping it off by Wednesday, April 1). The State Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky State's baseball team swept a doubleheader in Tuskegee on March 14—winning 13-11 and 12-4 with the help of local grads from Frankfort High and Franklin County. The team will face Edward Waters this weekend at George Rogers Clark and Western Hills. The State Journal
