CULTURE NEWS

  • Frankfort High School graduate Anna Murphy’s artwork is featured on Woodford Reserve’s commemorative Derby bottle for the Kentucky Derby’s 152nd running. The bottle celebrates Derby fashion and tradition with a porcelain-inspired style that includes iconic red roses and speedwell for travel protection.  The State Journal
  • Kentucky artist Jennifer Millard debuts her soft pastel exhibit The Landscapes We Love at Expree Credit Union; a free reception is scheduled for Friday, March 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Her work captures the beauty of Kentucky landscapes in gentle detail.  The State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three Kentucky State University undergraduates presented research on cattle health, soil amendments and food safety at the Capitol Annex on March 5. Their work (a strong example of practical student research) shows how findings can boost both agriculture and community well-being.  The State Journal
  • South Frankfort Neighborhood Association is accepting applications for the Randy Bacon Memorial and Jason Shaw Legacy Scholarships for Frankfort High seniors meeting specific criteria. Applications must be submitted on paper or online by May 1, and interested students should contact school administrators—each scholarship offers different eligibility and award amounts.  The State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Registration is open for the second Safe Teen Driving Challenge for 15-to-19-year-olds with permits + licenses in Frankfort; teens must sign up online by Thursday, Apr. 16 and use the Drive Well Go app to compete for cash prizes, with performance tracked from Apr. 17 to July 17, 2026.  Kentucky Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • World TB Day takes place Tuesday to raise awareness about tuberculosis and its global impact. The day commemorates the discovery of the TB bacteria by Dr. Koch in 1882 and reminds the community of the importance of monitoring symptoms and seeking timely care (local health officials track TB cases annually).  Kentucky Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • UK fans shared disappointment after Iowa State beat the team 82-63 on Sunday, citing coaching and turnovers as issues. They look forward to the women’s team playing West Virginia today + the hometown vibe remaining strong.  WKYT
  • Kentucky’s men's basketball team lost 82 to 63 to the Iowa State Cyclones in the NCAA Tournament at Enterprise Center Sunday; senior guard Denzel Aberdeen scored 20 points before the team’s run ended.  WKYT
  • Kentucky State football unveiled its 2026 schedule Sunday, Mar. 22 after a record season in 2025 led by head coach Felton Huggins Jr. The schedule features a season opener at Central State on Aug. 28 plus home games in Frankfort starting Sept. 19.  The State Journal
