ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A deadly runway crash on Sunday night at LaGuardia delayed the Woodford County High School choir's return after a New York performance — the group faced flight cancellation, new hotel arrangements, and will take a rescheduled flight Tuesday afternoon.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Over 300 Kentucky 4-H students visited the Capitol in Frankfort to learn how government works. They participated in a mock committee session where they debated a bill and met leaders (including First Lady Britainy Beshear).  LEX 18

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • USGS research indicates significant geologic hydrogen deposits could be trapped beneath western and southcentral Kentucky, offering a clean, carbon-free energy source. The Kentucky Geological Survey will soon begin soil gas testing in these areas + present updated findings in Lexington this June.  Louisville Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Census Bureau reported that Kentucky’s population grew by about 0.5% from 2024 to 2025—a slowdown from the previous year as many counties, including those near our capital, showed reduced growth. Declining international migration and more deaths than births drove the trend seen across the state and nation.  WKYT
  • Senate Bill 37 proposes naming the Treeing Walker Coonhound as the official state dog, with supporters noting its speed, endurance and historical ties to local working traditions — a move meant to honor the breed’s cultural importance.  LEX 18
  • State Senate advanced a bill to reform Kentucky State University, giving its president authority to change academic programs and raise admissions standards to secure funding. The measure will be sent to the House and aims to shift the school to a technical focus while bolstering financial stability.  Louisville Public Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • Unusually warm March weather has raised pollen levels in Central Kentucky, triggering early seasonal allergies. A nurse at Blue Grass Allergy Care advises residents to change HVAC filters, keep windows closed, and limit outdoor time in the morning.  LEX 18

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Kentucky REALTORS reports that February housing sales reached $916.50 million statewide — an 8.60% increase from January — with most listings falling in the $200,000 to $300,000 range. Inventory dropped to 5.30 months, signaling a strong market as spring nears.  Kentucky Today
