🚨 Crime
Oak Grove police arrested Manuel Alvarez — a 34-year-old from Peculiar, Missouri — after he admitted to secretly installing a hidden camera in his estranged lover’s bedroom on Arkansas Avenue, which led the homeowner to fear for her safety.
🎓 Education
A new report from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education shows that the average student loan balance for public college graduates has fallen 32.9% over the past five years and nearly 60% of 2023-24 graduates finished without debt.
The report shows that the overall average at graduation was $10,688—down $5,237 from 2018-19, while graduates who borrowed owed an average of $26,115.
🏛️ Government
Federal officials cut $424,104,242 in COVID-era funding from health programs as shown on the DOGE website, prompting Governor Beshear to call the cancellations unlawful.
He said his team will challenge the cuts in court as measles and bird flu cases rise.
