COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Starting Monday at the Capital City Activity Center, Meals on Wheels Greater Frankfort will host a weeklong schedule featuring sports-themed dress days, billiards, Tai-Chi, bingo and free food Friday with sessions from morning to afternoon.  The State Journal
  • Cinderella’s Closet Central Kentucky will host a Trivia Night fundraiser on Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at Capital City Christian Church (15 Locust Drive) for participants aged 18 and over; the $25 fee includes pizza, drinks, snacks, and two hours of trivia.  The State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Josephine Sculpture Park welcomed artist Ceirra Evans to develop 'Reunion,' a project turning family meal memories into art and food programs. She will lead the 'What’s On Your Plate?' workshop on Saturday, April 25, from noon to 2 p.m. at Paul Sawyier Public Library Community Room.  The State Journal
  • Kentucky State professor Dr. Swagata Banerjee earned executive producer credit on the new Turandot finale released Feb. 6, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with top orchestras and later featured at the Winter Olympics—its music now set for Grammy consideration.  The State Journal
  • Bluegrass Writers Coalition Inc. announced the finalists and winners of the Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest. The award ceremony is scheduled for April 10 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Frankfort and is free and open to the public.  The State Journal

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • A local gardening expert offers an April planting guide that uses moon phases and zodiac signs—highlighting days for planting, cleaning, and making changes. The guide advises caution with late frosts and encourages gardeners to follow the schedule for thriving new growth.  The State Journal
