- ➤ Frankfort native Senior Chief Petty Officer John Osborne will join U.S. Navy sailors for Lexington Navy Week, which runs from today until April 12 (a program to engage the community and showcase Navy career paths). The State Journal
- ➤ On Friday, Apr. 3 marked the 52nd anniversary of the 1974 tornado outbreak that affected 39 counties and damaged 120 homes, businesses, and factories in southern Frankfort with four fatalities. Advances in Doppler radar and warning systems have since improved severe weather tracking for local communities. The State Journal

- ➤ Frankfort International Jazz Day will be celebrated on Apr. 24 at 7 p.m. at River View Park (404 Wilkinson Blvd) as part of the Kentucky Jazz Appreciation Month Collective, featuring gospel music performances by the Community Mass Choir, Franklin County Jazz Ensemble and guest Lexie Hamner. - ➤ Frankfort resident Jane Wilson wrote a letter detailing the poor care of trees near Western Hills High School and along East-West Connector. Wilson calls the treatment 'tortured' & urges officials to look into the issue. The State Journal
