Frankfort city officials warned that several low-lying areas of uncertainty today may flood when the river crests at 8:00 a.m.; these areas include South Frankfort, North Frankfort, Holmes Street, Bellepoint, and Compton Drive in Blanton Acres.

Crews are working on the flood wall system—designed to withstand 51 feet of water—and residents are urged to move to safe locations and call 502-352-2252 for help while using 911 for emergencies.

Governor Andy Beshear provided an update today on storms and flooding that have caused 539 road closures and reported mudslides and a rockslide—250 barricades were delivered from Chicago to help divert traffic in areas such as Dawson Springs.

In Frankfort, he said record floodwaters have forced many homes to evacuate and limited the water supply while teams work around the clock to support residents.

The Frankfort Plant Board Water Treatment Plant said that high water levels may affect the pump equipment so they shut off the equipment and urged residents to use less water.

Officials said that turning the pumps back on will depend on how high the river rises (water storage tanks are full).

On Sunday, the Winchester Fire Department sent a six-person swift water rescue team to help with flooding in Frankfort; the team joined with the Richmond Fire Department and a North Carolina Task Force and deployed a boat and extra resources on stand-by.
