COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 30 families displaced by recent flooding have found shelter at Capital Plaza Hotel where community members and the Frankfort Independent School District provide meals and support. The school district will distribute over 1,000 meals by the end of the week—helping residents regain stability.  LEX 18
  • Frankfort residents cleaned out their flooded homes as cleanup efforts began after the Kentucky River dropped below flood stage on Thursday — residents discarded water-damaged items to speed recovery.  WKYT
  • As floodwaters from the Kentucky River recede from Frankfort, residents see widespread damage to homes and streets. Volunteers are clearing debris and working to restore normal life—local officials say the community is showing a strong recovery.  The State Journal

  • Businesses along the Kentucky River are cleaning up after recent flooding. The Basement Doctor in Frankfort is spending nearly half a million dollars to repair water damage and help customers rebuild their properties—working nonstop since last Thursday.  WKYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Frankfort are cleaning up flood damage that left mud, debris, and even fish in some homes. A citywide curfew is in effect from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. while local officials work with FEMA to approve aid and deliver supplies— including dumpsters— to help restore power.  WTVQ
  • Gov. Beshear updated Kentuckians yesterday on severe weather recovery efforts that included six flood deaths, power outages, and road closures while urging residents not to drive through standing water. He also highlighted economic projects to create new jobs, faster driver licensing with vision screenings, $3.6M in railway grants, and Library Week activities while marking the two-year anniversary of the Old National Bank shooting — thanking first responders and local helpers.  92.7 The Wave
  • The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources warned hunters that heavy floods will make access to public lands difficult during the spring turkey season, which will run April 12 to May 4 — the agency urged checking conditions and avoiding high water areas — to ensure safety.  Kentucky Today
  • FEMA set up a recovery center in Woodford County in late March to help flood victims from the February floods — over 9,000 Kentuckians registered for help and more than $32 million was disbursed. Local and state crews started steps for a disaster declaration that will open funding for March storms.  FOX 56
