ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Solar energy advocates are hosting a free meeting on solar energy on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at Paul Sawyier Public Library, co-hosted by Greenlight Action, the Kentucky Solar Energy Society, and the Kentucky Conservation Committee.  The State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear announced that local governments may apply for stormwater infrastructure grants to improve systems after last year’s flooding. Letters of intent (due May 15, with full applications by July 10) will help guide projects to protect community health and safety.  Kentucky Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Parkinson’s support group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (316 Ann St) to share snacks and discuss a new trial, exercise, and other treatments. Participants should use the entrance on Broadway Street.  The State Journal

  • Residents gathered for Frankfort’s first Senior Prom at The Lantern plus staff helped older adults feel celebrated after years of missing prom, crowning Ginger Tucker as Prom Queen and Keith Taylor as Prom King on Monday, April 13.  The State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Amelia Hassett, the 6-foot-4 Australian who played two seasons at Kentucky, was drafted 35th overall by the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday night. She averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds last season after transferring from Eastern Florida.  WTVQ
