CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A northern Kentucky lawyer, Jennifer Zaccheus-Miller, pleaded guilty to two theft counts at Campbell Circuit Court and received a six-year sentence for stealing over $200,000 from two Campbell County estates—she is now barred from practicing law pending a possible permanent disbarment by the Kentucky Bar Association. - ➤ Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate for March was 5.2% (a drop of 0.1 percentage point from February but 0.4 points higher than a year ago). The Kentucky Center for Statistics reported a rise in both employment and the labor force for March 2025. Kentucky Today

- ➤ After the April flood, landslides worsened damage in Franklin and Woodford Counties, where six homes have been condemned and many others were damaged near the river—residents must wait until engineers check properties before they can return. LEX 18

- ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration is urging disaster loan recipients in Kentucky to apply for up to an extra 20 percent to cover verified physical damages from storms. Loan recipients have up to two years from their initial approval to request additional funds for projects such as drainage improvements and sump pump installations. Kentucky Today
- ➤ Officials warn that Kentuckians who plan to travel by air will face long lines and delays at TSA checkpoints if they do not update their driver's license to a Real ID by May 7th—residents are urged to bring all required documents and may seek appointments at alternate locations if local offices are busy. - ➤ Gov. Beshear gave an update on April 17 about economic growth, flood recovery, and bridge repairs in our community, noting new jobs from Boone County investments, a start on the state’s first medical cannabis business, and help for military children. He also named Kathleen Driskell as the new Kentucky Poet Laureate and announced plans for a Derby Celebration poster and Derby Week Kick-Off on April 26 — with officials urging flood safety and waiting on federal disaster aid — as recovery work goes on. 92.7 The Wave

- ➤ The Kentucky Blood Center said it will open a new frozen breast milk drop-off at the Frankfort Donor Center starting Thursday (for approved Milk Bank donors) to help send milk to hospitals for sick and small babies. This new site adds to others in Lexington, Louisville, Somerset, and Pikeville (which have provided nearly half a million feedings) to support vulnerable infants. LEX 18
