ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Rope rescue technicians were called to a nearby farm and built a rope system—reaching a dog stranded on a 100-foot cliff—to rescue the animal.  WKYT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear named Kathleen Driskell, an award-winning poet and educator from Louisville, as Kentucky’s next poet laureate. She will be inducted on April 24 at the Capitol during Kentucky Writers Day after a public nomination process and will serve a two-year term to support the state’s literary community—continuing efforts to grow local writing talent.  Louisville Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state auditor's office has launched an investigation into Kentucky's medical cannabis lottery program after receiving complaints about the fairness of the application process. Local business owners, including Bronson Spears, say many applicants paid a $5,000 fee only to see most licenses go to out-of-state winners (90% of the awards).  FOX 56
  • Gov. Andy Beshear said ground was broken on Centaurus Farms, a 10,000‐square‐foot facility for growing medical cannabis in Monticello that is the state's first such business—he added that more than 12,000 residents have been certified since January. First products will be available for sale at approved dispensaries later this year.  Kentucky Today
  • Kentucky's first female chief justice Debra Hembree Lambert said her Appalachian upbringing in her father's auto shop taught her the value of fairness and that her decisions will be based solely on merit plus a commitment to give everyone a voice.
