- ➤ Recovery advocates hosted the third Frankfort Sobriety Festival Saturday at William Joseph Crisis Nursery on Leawood Drive, where community members enjoyed games, live music, food trucks and door prizes to support recovery. The event provided vital prevention and aftercare resources despite rainy weather. The State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Community and Technical College System now offers high school students dual credit courses to earn college credits at a lower cost and get a head start on their undergraduate journey. The program covers up to two general education courses per year, boosting students’ academic progress and career readiness. Kentucky Today
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents participated in Reforest Frankfort on Saturday at 300 Coffee Tree Road, reforesting the trees behind the Vietnam Veteran Memorial. The free community event featured music, food & environmental education activities along with tree giveaways for homes. The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman declared her candidacy for governor yesterday — the first to announce — and outlined her plan to build on recent economic gains while emphasizing her lifelong community service. The State Journal
- ➤ Frankfort city parks and maintenance crews are beautifying downtown as Derby season nears. New flags are on street lamps along West Main and St. Clair and barrel plantings will finish by next weekend (crews will also begin improvements at River View Park soon). The State Journal
- ➤ Crews are fixing a large power outage on the west side (traffic lights are off) as the Frankfort Plant Board reports ongoing challenges and the sheriff's office advises drivers to use extra care. WKYT
