  • Today, the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort serves as a relief hub for flood victims by delivering 240 meals daily provided by World Central Kitchen — local residents receive support as they face severe losses and uncertain futures.  LEX 18

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin County courts resumed operations Monday from temporary locations after the courthouse closed because of severe flood damage. The circuit court clerk’s office now conducts limited in-person business from Chamberlin Ave while Circuit and District court sessions take place there and at the regional jail with controlled public attendance.  Kentucky Today
  • Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Pamela Goodwine, the first Black woman elected to the high court, was sworn in on April 18 in Frankfort—her investiture was praised by fellow justices and Gov. Andy Beshear for highlighting her trailblazing career. Goodwine, who overcame many challenges in life, now stands as the fifth person to serve at every level of the judiciary.  LINK nky
  • Franklin County opened a multi-agency resource center at 827 Louisville Road to offer flood survivors help from the Red Cross and the Health Department—Franklin County Judge Executive Michael Mueller said the center is open 9 a.m.—7 p.m. Monday through Friday as officials await further FEMA decisions.  WKYT
