Family, friends and community gathered in Frankfort on Friday to say goodbye to Kentucky National Guard soldiers from Detachment 1 (Charlie Company, 2-238th MEDEVAC) who are heading overseas to do medical evacuations in Europe for Operation Joint Guardian.
The troops trained over a year and helped during past emergencies like floods and work in Afghanistan, and they will return home when their mission is complete.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet warned Kentuckians about fraudulent text messages that mimic tolling agencies and include links that look like the KYTC licensing website—do not click these links and contact your bank if you shared personal information.
The Cabinet said it is taking steps to remove the fake websites and advised people to report any suspicious texts.

Kentucky public health officials announced on Thursday that a second measles case was confirmed in March when a child from abroad received treatment at a local facility under strict safety protocols with no risk of further exposure.
Today's kindergarten vaccine assessment showed MMR coverage dropped to 86.9 percent—the lowest in over seven years—even as the CDC reported 800 measles cases nationwide in 2025, prompting officials to urge vaccinations.
