- ➤ Bluegrass Greensource held its fifth Earth Month sustainability summit at the University of Kentucky campus, where local leaders and officials talked about how small steps can make a big change. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ FEMA approved individual flooding assistance for residents in 13 counties on Friday as part of a major disaster declaration — affected residents have until June 25 to apply. Disaster recovery centers, including the Woodford County Senior Center, will open by Wednesday, April 30 to help those impacted by the April floods. LEX 18
- ➤ FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are now open in eight counties affected by April floods, giving families and business owners access to federal aid and recovery assistance. Gov. Beshear said all 13 counties will have a center open by April 30—additional counties may be added after further damage assessments. WTVQ
- ➤ After a major disaster declaration from recent flooding, FEMA crews began helping Kentucky residents in 13 counties apply for federal aid. Eight Disaster Recovery Centers opened today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1026 County Park Road in Lawrenceburg, 200 Maryland Avenue in Winchester, 827 Louisville Road in Frankfort, 954 Cameron Ponder Drive in Elizabethtown, 605 E. Arch Street in Madisonville, 111 Hoover Drive in Nicholasville, 900 N College Street in Harrodsburg and 185 Beasley Road in Versailles — with a ninth opening today at 1 p.m. at the Carrollton Utilities Operations Building on Clay Street in Carrollton — to help residents with their disaster applications.
