🏛️ Government
Months of engineering analysis and structural assessments show that the Singing Bridge—a 132-year-old crossing on Bridge Street—is unsafe and must be replaced to restore a vital downtown link.
Officials say the bridge has been closed to all traffic since August and that a new design with sidewalks will reconnect Frankfort after repairs were deemed unfeasible.
Following the Presidential major disaster declaration on April 24, the SBA announced low-interest federal disaster loans for Kentucky small businesses, nonprofits and residents hit by severe storms and flooding that began on April 2.
Loans help cover physical damage or lost income and may also fund upgrades to lessen future storm damage — a step aimed at boosting community recovery in affected counties.
