COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell invites Kentucky Proud members to apply for the Farm to Fork program that will help host groups spotlight local farms and support a charity event. Applicants must submit forms 30 days before scheduled dinners with cost-share grants available for eligible items (up to $750).  92.7 The Wave
  • On Saturday, May 9, Titan’s wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (a 2019 Western Hills graduate) hosted a free Community Giveback Football Clinic downtown for local youth, middle and high school players. He offered coaching tips and autographs for the attendees.  The State Journal
  • A Millersburg resident lost her home in a fire, but the community and Mayor Julie Hopkins rallied to help her recover—neighbors donate needed items like clothing, shoes, and toiletries—with drop-offs at the Millersburg Civic Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  LEX 18

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kellie Lang’s family celebrates Mother’s Day with a heartfelt story of three generations who all delivered at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, beginning with high-risk birth in 2008 and honoring a lost grandchild at Ryker’s Butterfly Ranch. Dr. Angela Saxena has linked their lives with care for more than 20 years.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin County Schools announced it hired Alexus Larson (Sunday, May 10) as its new Director of Communications. Larson will lead community outreach, media relations and strategic storytelling to strengthen district ties with families and staff.  The State Journal
  • On Saturday, Kentucky State University held two commencement ceremonies to award 428 degrees to its largest graduating class ever, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and graduates representing both Kentucky and other countries.  WTVQ
