COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Union Sportsmen's Alliance will host Kentucky Take Kids Fishing Events at Lexington's Jacobson Park, Louisville's Waverly Park, and Paducah's Bob Noble Park from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Families must attend with a guardian to learn fishing, safety, and conservation techniques. Kentucky Today
- ➤ Bourbon on the Banks Festival purchased the historic pavilion formerly used by the Franklin County Farmers Market and donated it to the city on Monday. The structure will serve festival ticketing + community events as the city plans to expand its riverfront development. The State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Office of State Budget Director announced that April's General Fund receipts reached $2,013.1 million, a 15.2% increase that marks the first time monthly collections topped $2 billion. Revenue from the major tax accounts drove the increase while Road Fund receipts declined slightly. Kentucky Today
- ➤ Gov. Beshear declared May 11-17 as Period Poverty Awareness Week to address rising costs and stigma affecting access to period products. Nonprofit Period Y'all will add a pantry at Washington County Library on May 16 and host a pop-up in Garrard County on May 15 (supporting local access). LEX 18
- ➤ Gov. Beshear announced yesterday that more than $1.3 million from the Waste Tire Trust Fund has been allocated to 36 projects to turn scrap tires into durable playground surfaces and park benches in 30 counties. Kentucky Today
- ➤ Both lanes of US 127 at Wolf Creek Dam will be closed on Wednesday, May 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for spillway gate rehabilitation, with message boards and special accommodations for emergency and school traffic in place. 92.7 The Wave

- ➤ Governor Beshear signed a proclamation Tuesday raising awareness for DIPG (a rare pediatric brain cancer) as health officials investigated increased cases in southeastern Kentucky. LEX 18

- ➤ Jerone Morton, state tournament MVP, announced his decision to return home & join Kentucky after playing for Morehead State and Washington State. He said he relies on family guidance and his own determination to compete and help the team win under coach Mark Pope. The State Journal
- ➤ NFL wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson hosted a free community football clinic in Frankfort Saturday behind the Capital Plaza Hotel, saying local kids can achieve their NFL dreams. He will host another clinic on June 6 at Tates Creek. The State Journal
