COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Yesterday in Frankfort, a wreath of 45 flowers and the reading of names honored fallen EMS workers during National EMS Week. The Kentucky EMS Foundation is raising funds to build a $400,000 memorial in Juniper Park + secure lasting recognition for their service.  WKYT
  • On Wednesday, over 300 motorcyclists with the Run For The Wall group stopped at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Coffee Tree Road to honor veterans with local officials present, and they departed at 12:05 p.m. to reach the Vietnam Memorial Wall in D.C. on Friday.  The State Journal

  • Thirty workers were evaluated and transported after a chemical exposure at a Franklin County facility today; responders from City of Frankfort Fire & EMS and Emergency Management isolated the area to prevent further risk.  LEX 18

  • Village Caregiving— a home care agency with eight locations statewide— announced its partnership with the Kentucky Purple Star Award Program to support military youth, families and veterans with services, scholarships, volunteer events and memorial maintenance. ECONOMY NEWS

  • In its best first quarter ever, Kentucky secured over $50 billion in economic investment that created 70,000 new jobs statewide, including projects like Global Laser Enrichment’s Paducah facility while the average wage also rose to record levels.  LEX 18

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky hunters harvested a record 36,439 turkeys this spring—beating a 10-year average of 30,847—and youth took 2,613 birds during their dedicated opening, officials said, citing good weather and higher turkey numbers.  Kentucky Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ten fallen officers' names were added to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial on Wednesday, boosting the total to 609 names dating back to 1845 (including James Claxton from 1933). The annual ceremony featured flag presentations to honor their sacrifice.  WKYT

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet warns residents that harmful algal blooms may form in local waterways. Residents should avoid contact with discolored water (especially for children, pets, and those with asthma) and wash off promptly if exposed.  Kentucky Today

  • An all-tournament team was named after Tuesday’s 41st District baseball tournament at Great Crossing. Players from Frankfort, Franklin County, Western Hills, Great Crossing, and Frankfort Christian Academy were honored (MVP Landen Walters).  The State Journal
