On Friday night a tornado hit London and caused significant damage as the Kentucky National Guard helped secure sites, distribute supplies, and keep roads clear.

With search and rescue ending, guardsmen—led by 1st Lt. William Scaggs—continue to support cleanup and recovery efforts.

A London couple in their 60s who each lost an arm when an EF-4 tornado destroyed their home last week reunited — smiling through the pain as Gail was taken off a ventilator on Thursday — with their son praising local responders and neighbors for saving their lives.

The Office of State Budget Director reported Friday that March and April General Fund receipts dropped 6.4 percent from last year because lower income tax—especially from pass-through taxes—drove the decline+sales tax remained flat while business taxes rose 5 percent.
