A deadly tornado struck a local neighborhood, damaging homes and causing fatalities.

Local officials are planning rebuilding efforts and offering support to residents as they work to restore the community.

Citizen Foster Care Review Boards will host a series of virtual town hall meetings in June to discuss ways to improve the foster care system for Kentucky children and families.

Meetings on June 5, 10, 12 and 16 will focus on encouraging children in out-of-home care to join extracurricular activities plus findings will be shared with state officials for annual review.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced on May 23 that the state will extend its summer food program to give healthy meals to 450,000 children (each eligible student will get a one-time $120 benefit).

Families not automatically enrolled must apply by Aug. 15 (this step builds on last year’s support for nearly 400,000 children) to help fight summer hunger.
