ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Kentucky eased as national averages dropped 6.6 cents to $4.45 per gallon; the state's regular gas price was reported at $4.17 on Wednesday (fuel still costs over $1.50 more than at the start of March). Kentucky Today
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education introduced a free advising tool to help schools align career studies with high school graduation requirements (designed with Education Strategy Group) and boost student planning for college and careers. Ten school districts will pilot it next year to support early, confident decision-making. Kentucky Today
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Resources reported an upturn in osprey nests (from 52 in 2008 to 155 in 2017) along local waterways. The agency noted the birds' strong comeback after years without nests due to DDT-related challenges. WKYT

- ➤ The Kentucky State Police Foundation launched its 250 for $250 Campaign today to honor America's upcoming 250th anniversary and boost public safety programs. The effort seeks 250 supporters contributing ($250) each through July 5. Kentucky Today
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A Kentucky veterinarian warns cat owners that bobcat fever (a deadly tick-borne illness) can make pets rapidly ill and now recommends keeping cats indoors with year-round tick prevention; the illness has a 97% fatality rate and a new vaccine is not yet available. WKYT
- ➤ Kentucky recorded a drop in overdose deaths for the fourth year, with numbers falling from 2,257 in 2021 to 1,100 in 2025. Governor Andy Beshear said local efforts such as Narcan distribution, addiction treatment, and recovery services are credited with saving lives. WKYT
