Attorney General Russell Coleman said the Fayette County Public Schools Board broke state law by voting three to two for a 0.25% occupational tax increase on May 27 without giving proper public notice—KRS 160.603 requires a public hearing before new taxes are levied.

Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe urged the Fiscal Court to pause further tax actions until the board restores public trust.
