Local writer Chris Helvey released a new short story collection, The Blind Man and the Midget, which explores the struggles and occasional triumphs of everyday Kentuckians through realistic narratives.

The book draws on familiar local themes and offers vivid pictures of life in Kentucky.

Logan Hurley was awarded the Nora McCarty Scholarship by Alpha Delta Kappa, Chi Chapter (Saturday, June 6 at 3:00 p.m.) and will continue her studies in elementary and special education at the University of the Cumberlands.
