The Kentucky Historical Society will host a free Juneteenth event on Friday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 100 W.

Governor Andy Beshear announced that 2025 was Kentucky's best tourism year ever, generating $14.6 billion and nearly 97,000 jobs — marking four straight record years.
The Tourism Economics study showed 81.1 million visitors spent $10.4 billion on food, lodging, transportation and retail.

Franklin County Schools community mourns rising junior KeAaron Jones who succumbed after a battle with cancer.

State Budget Director (John Hicks) said May’s General Fund receipts dropped 3% to $1,163.9 million and Road Fund receipts fell 3.9% to $159.2 million as revenue trends remain on track to meet forecasts by June 30.
Sales tax and income tax collections helped offset declines compared to last year.
A letter to the editor criticized local officials for not providing matching funds to Swim with Purpose to renovate the KSU pool, a shortfall that delayed plans for an indoor pool by year-end.
The project would have offered affordable, year-round aquatic programs for families.
