Frankfort Parkinson’s Support Group will meet for snacks at 6 p.m. and start its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at its new location at The Cross Center at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church (480 Duckers Road, Midway).

Franklin County Schools rated Superintendent Mark Kopp as exemplary for the sixth consecutive year at Monday’s board meeting, and the board approved donations for Bondurant Middle School FFA & two vehicles for the Franklin County Career and Technical Center automotive program.
Kentucky State University regents met on Friday, Jun.
12 to discuss transitioning the institution to a polytechnic model (aiming to broaden its educational programs).
🏛️ Government
Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers was named a 2026 MPA Industry Champion Award recipient for his work promoting film and television production in Kentucky.
He will receive the honor later this year during the awards ceremony at the organization’s headquarters (in Washington, D.C.).
Kentuckians will not be allowed to bring medical marijuana from other states starting July 1 since Gov. Beshear said in-state dispensaries now supply enough for patients - residents needing cannabis should consult a doctor to obtain a Kentucky card.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close the Capital Avenue Bridge next weekend from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, June 22, for preservation work awarded to DeLong Concrete LLC.
Motorists should follow a detour via Old Lawrenceburg Road & East-West Connector; repairs are expected to finish by Nov. 1.
