ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A bus from First Corinthian Baptist Church crashed on Georgetown Road — near its intersection with Seminole Trail — Sunday morning at about 11 a.m., killing a husband and wife and leaving another in critical condition.  Kentucky Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mark Rothman (who bought his first record when he was 8) now owns a downtown Frankfort record store that welcomes people of all ages. The shop is planned as a local hub for music lovers.  The State Journal
  • Frankfort’s Bourbon Week is underway and runs through Friday, June 20, as 16 local businesses showcase unique versions of the signature Frankfort drink + aim to boost tourism in the capital.  WKYT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Appalachian Regional Commission is awarding $7.4 million to develop the Appalachian Overland Triangle Project — which will improve tourism infrastructure in 74 counties across Appalachian Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia by mapping 1,000 miles of potential motorsports trails and redeveloping a historic farmhouse as a welcome center. Local partner Backroads of Appalachia and allies will add $2,707,030 in matching funds — expected to create five new businesses and attract over 7,000 day visitors and 2,500 overnight guests.  Kentucky Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Chronic Wasting Disease surveillance now covers Henderson, Union and Webster counties after a deer just across the river in Posey County tested positive. Hunters must bring deer for testing during the first three days of modern gun season—Nov. 8 to 10—and follow new rules on deer carcass transport and rehabilitation to help protect local herds.  Kentucky Today
