ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, a Frankfort church bus struck a utility pole at East Main Street and Butler Drive, killing 76-year-old Carolyn Jackson and 81-year-old James Jackson while injuring another passenger— the Franklin Baptist Association asked the community to pray for the victims and their families.  WTVQ

CRIME NEWS

  • Kentucky Court of Appeals directed the Fayette Circuit Court to reinstate the jury's conviction for James Hendron—who fatally shot his 23-year-old son on Father's Day 2018—ensuring he remains in prison as the case returns for sentencing.  Kentucky Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky’s public colleges and universities reported higher enrollment and improved graduation rates for the 2023–24 school year, according to the state education council’s progress report. KCTCS saw a 6.8 percent enrollment rise and a 3-point jump in three-year graduation while public universities experienced a 3.9 percent gain but a one percent drop in bachelor's degrees—adding to a rise in unmet financial need due to a new FAFSA system.  Kentucky Today

  • Kentucky's automatic Medicaid renewal for children will end July 1; parents must check their mail & fill out renewal forms to keep coverage. The change means that 600,000 children could lose needed health care if their paperwork is not updated.  WTVQ
