ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Staff Sergeant Saul Fabian Gonzalez, a 26-year-old soldier from Pullman, Michigan assigned to Fort Campbell, was killed on June 17 in Erbil, Iraq in a non-combat incident under investigation — his loss is deeply felt by the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. FOX 56
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted May unemployment rate was 5% as the state’s labor force grew to 2,119,740 with employment rising by 4,321, and a boost of 3,300 jobs in manufacturing helped bring improvements from April and a slight increase from last year—figures released by the Kentucky Center for Statistics. - ➤ The U.S. Department of Justice sued Kentucky on June 17 for a rule that lets undocumented immigrants pay in-state tuition because Pam Bondi said it treats U.S. citizens unfairly—state officials like Gov. - ➤ The Finance and Administration Cabinet announced that work on the State Capitol dome will soon begin as part of a $260 million phase-two renovation that replaces old terracotta tiles, repairs the structure, and improves waterproofing.
