  • The U.S. Small Business Administration reminded Kentuckians in eligible counties affected by April flooding and severe weather that they can apply for low-interest disaster loans to repair or replace damaged property and personal belongings by July 25—businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters may receive loans up to established limits—without needing to wait for insurance settlements.  Kentucky Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Auditor Allison Ball said the Office of the Ombudsman formally asked CHFS for details about the widespread denials of waiver services for children during HCBW eligibility reviews—reports show an error by a subcontractor led to these denials and the request seeks clear explanations and corrective actions.  Kentucky Today
  • In 2024, Kentucky’s Drinking Water Compliance Report showed that public water systems delivered high-quality drinking water with less than 0.001 percent of tests showing health-based violations — a result credited to diligent state monitoring by the Division of Water. The report noted 144 total violations, including 56 administrative and 88 health-based infractions — prompting water operators to take corrective actions.  Kentucky Today
  • US 127 will be closed on both lanes near Wolf Creek Dam on July 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for spillway gate rehabilitation, and message boards will provide travel updates while American Bridge may turn them off if the road can reopen sooner.  92.7 The Wave
