  • GE Appliances announced a $490 million project that will create 800 jobs and shift washing machine production from China to its Louisville complex at Appliance Park. The company said new lines for front load washers and a washer dryer combo will open in 2027+ making this the largest U.S production site for these appliances+ while boosting domestic manufacturing.  Louisville Public Media

CRIME NEWS

  • Kentucky State Police arrested 16 people in April as part of Operation Safe Summer Campaign—an effort that launched over 70 investigations and executed 37 search warrants to protect children from online exploitation, Governor Beshear said.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a town hall in Frankfort on Wednesday night, parents, educators and state leaders gathered to offer feedback on Gov. Beshear’s Pre-K for All initiative that will expand preschool access for four-year-olds; some urged adding full-day options to improve care. Gov. Beshear said the plan will put money back in parents’ pockets and could grow the workforce (70,000), and more town halls are planned statewide.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • FEMA announced over $75 million in benefits for disaster declarations in Kentucky this year following tornadoes, severe storms, and flooding+ for the May tornadoes, over $1.9 million in aid was approved for 397 households in several counties with a July 23 deadline for applications. FEMA has also approved $24 million for over 3,220 households affected by April flooding and $49 million for about 7,205 households from February storms, advising residents to use the correct disaster number when applying.  Kentucky Today
  • Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources game wardens will increase patrols on the waterways during the upcoming July 4 holiday to check for boating under the influence. The patrols are part of Operation Dry Water (a national effort) that aims to reduce alcohol- and drug-related boating incidents (by educating boaters) on state waters.  92.7 The Wave
