EDUCATION NEWS

  • Auditor Allison Ball's review of the Department of Education found widespread issues—$250 million in SEEK funding was not used to support underfunded programs, a move the department disputes. State officials say the report will guide future changes to improve public school support.  LINK nky

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Auditor Allison Ball released a report on the Kentucky Department of Education that found a lapse of more than $250 million in SEEK funding and possible constitutional issues with preschool allocations (DEI spending was also criticized). Ball called for sweeping improvements as the department has not yet responded.  WTVQ
  • Governor Beshear announced that Kentucky is the first state to capture high-resolution aerial imagery of its entire geography, and all certified 911 call centers now have access to the LiDAR data for search and rescue. The $17 million project—funded by the 2022-24 budget—will also help with site selection for new homes and other critical projects.  FOX 56
  • Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Covington against RealPage, Inc.—and several landlord groups—for allegedly coordinating price fixing that forced higher rents on Kentucky households. The suit seeks to stop the illegal practice and impose penalties for each violation under federal antitrust laws and Kentucky’s Consumer Protection Act.  Kentucky Today
