CRIME NEWS

  • On July 2, Martin County man James Charles, 60, threatened a social worker by saying he would drop a bomb on Frankfort and was arrested at his home in Lovely—he was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, his $5,000 bond posted on July 3, and he was ordered to have no contact with the DCBS office.  FOX 56

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Kentucky Power will add a Securitized Surcharge of 6.37% on utility bills to cover costs like storm repairs and plant retirements. The new charge will remain on bills for 20 years and affect 162,000 customers—saving them an estimated $90 million compared to a 13.13% rise.  WKYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell and 11 agriculture leaders signed a letter supporting USDA's National Farm Security Action Plan to protect American farmland and secure our food supply. The plan will tighten reporting plus increase penalties under the Agricultural Foreign Investment and Disclosure Act to help keep our food systems safe.  Kentucky Today
