➤ On July 2, Martin County man James Charles, 60, threatened a social worker by saying he would drop a bomb on Frankfort and was arrested at his home in Lovely—he was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, his $5,000 bond posted on July 3, and he was ordered to have no contact with the DCBS office. ECONOMY NEWS

➤ Kentucky Power will add a Securitized Surcharge of 6.37% on utility bills to cover costs like storm repairs and plant retirements. The new charge will remain on bills for 20 years and affect 162,000 customers—saving them an estimated $90 million compared to a 13.13% rise. WKYT

➤ Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell and 11 agriculture leaders signed a letter supporting USDA's National Farm Security Action Plan to protect American farmland and secure our food supply.
