The Franklin County Fair started Tuesday and will run through Saturday, offering food, rides, music and dirt bike racing for families.

Eric Gregory will be inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame for his role in expanding KDA (Kentucky Distillers Association) membership from seven to over 75 and for boosting the Bourbon Trail as a major tourism draw.

Two Franklin County FFA members attended the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. on July 15, where they built leadership skills, explored civic engagement, and visited national monuments (a premier event led by the National FFA Organization) with support from a historic gift by the Bill Gatton Foundation.
Frankfort students Grace Hutcherson and Hannah Ward were named to Cedarville University’s Dean’s Honor List for Spring 2026, meeting the required 3.75 GPA and minimum 12 credit hours (this honor recognizes their academic success).
Frankfort’s Baylor Brooker earned a spot on the Lindsey Wilson University Dean’s List for the spring semester (after achieving a 3.50 GPA on a 4.00 scale) as reported Wednesday.

Dr. Kris Bryant warned that cyclospora, a parasite causing diarrhea, has been on the rise in Kentucky and nearby areas.
